If you were asked this question, what would be the first thing that will pop up in your mind? You can take your time to think about it before you answer. If you have a lot to write, please go ahead and write your answer on a piece of paper.
Now, don’t be deceived, there is no right or wrong answer. All answers vary from different individuals and most times are influenced by their personal experiences.
For example, I believe I owe it to myself and the people I meet to keep improving and learning. My goal is to be the best version of myself. Personal development is a lifelong process where you are constantly learning and improving. It could be about your skill, faith, career, personal brand, personality, or art.
This is a process that helps you get better. It gives you a clearer picture of where you are, your strengths, what needs to be worked on and helps you reach your goal. With personal development you can assess and evaluate yourself and with every effort you put into making yourself better you see the results even if it takes a longer period of time.
Personal development is continuous and its aim is that you grow from average to good. It needs you to put in the work because growing depends on you. Embrace the act of comparing your past self to your present self – not comparing yourself to others. If you are in the business of personal development, then you know that learning, putting in the work and growing happen at the same time. If you learn and put in the work, you grow, but if you don’t, then you remain where you are.
Another exciting thing about personal development is the joy and motivation that comes with it. When you start seeing the progress of your work, you become motivated to do more. When you do more, you get better, and the cycle continues like that. Even the greatest writers, artists, business owners, actors, models and CEOs still pursue learning because they want to get better, remain up to date, or improve. When they do these things, they don’t only help themselves but others as well.
My word for you is to keep improving and learning. Don’t stop because you are not seeing the results immediately. When you see growth, celebrate it. Self development is key and we owe it to ourselves to grow.
